Other than this, the only other sound you get in the whole film is the dark matter type sound coming from the black hole on the piece of paper. The photocopier is running throughout and it provides the diegetic sound. The end shot where the paper falls off the safe and the man is trapped in it is clever as it zooms out slowly from the safe, showing how trapped and alone he is as he’s now locked in the safe, which is locked in the room, which is locked in the office. Throughout the film, as the greed of the man grows, the camera movement also increases to connote the raised heartbeat of the man as his lust for the money in the safe grows.

This gives the impression that there is something in there watching him work. As the black hole piece of paper appears, there are some POV shots from the paper looking at the man. From here the camera stays static, with a few close ups on his exhausted face and on the odd goings on in the photocopier. The camera starts very static at the beginning, with a quick pan across the office to show the surroundings and then a focus onto the protagonist. The grey lighting is done to connote the tedium that occurs in this man’s office job and how bored he is with life in general. The office light is made to look like the only natural lighting but it is clear that the bleakness of the picture is done by extra lighting. This effect is done to show the audience that all the main events in the film happen to this particular character. The lighting throughout the short film is very grey, with an almost spotlight on the male character all the way through the film.

It is clear he seeks escape as he is longingly looking into the distance, and when something strange occurs with the photocopier, he is quickly on the case as it is probably the first bit of excitement that has happened to him all day. His sense of boredom is out across by the grey and bleak lighting that the film is set in, along with the huffing and puffing of the character himself. The protagonist in this short film is portrayed as a hard working, bored man who seeks an escape from his seemingly tedious office job.
